UNDERWRITERS SELECT PRODUCTION

The Reality: Independent creators with the means to fund a unique vision deserve a professional, supportive platform. To make this possible, one production per season is reserved for a coproduced project.

Performers never pay to participate. The one exception is if a producer is independently funding the production to back a specific artist or secure a particular role, which must be explicitly outlined in the initial proposal.

Our selection process focuses on reviewing the resources, backing, or support the producer/submission brings to the table, ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership for both the creator and Rise Up Theatre Company. 

**WHILE FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS ARE WELCOMED AND DEEPLY APPRECIATED, THEY ARE NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR SUBMISSION/CONSIDERATION.**

At Rise Up Theatre Company, we are dedicated to championing vibrant, inclusive, and impactful storytelling. We invite playwrights, composers, and lyricists to submit their work for consideration in our upcoming programming and development workshops.

Below is the criteria and guidelines for submitting your project.

• Thematic Relevance: We seek stories that challenge, inspire, and reflect a diverse range of human experiences. Pieces that explore community, resilience, and social relevance are highly encouraged.
• Project Types: We accept submissions for full-length plays, musicals, and unique theatrical adaptations.
• Developmental Stage: We welcome both brand-new, unproduced scripts seeking workshop development, as well as established pieces looking for a regional production.

• Cast Size: While we do not have a strict limit, preference is given to works that feature flexible ensemble casting or roles that can accommodate diverse casting choices.
• Technical Scope: We appreciate imaginative storytelling that can be resourcefully staged. Please note if your piece has intense technical, structural, or special effects requirements.

To ensure our creative team can thoroughly review your work, please submit all materials as a single PDF

Your submission must include:

• Cover Page: Title, author(s) name, and up to date contact information.
• Artistic Statement (Max 1 page): A brief note on why you believe your piece is a great fit for Rise Up Theatre Company.
• Producer/Underwriters wants: A detailed description of what you are looking for regarding production (ex: Precast a roll, Direction, Tech,  Financial assistance, self owned company/buissness promotion, a certain vision for the production, how much you are financially contributing, etc).
• Project Summary: A 1 page synopsis and basic production breakdown.
• Music Submissions (If applicable): Links to 3–4  tracks (via YouTube, or Google Drive. please do not attach raw MP3 files).
