CHRIS CAY STEWART

Chris has performed at various venues around the Sacramento area including the Sacramento Theatre Company, Music Circus, Green Valley Theatre Company, Magic Circle Theatre and the Davis Musical Theatre Company. Some of Chris's favorite roles include Reba in The Last Night of Ballyhoo; the title roles in Amahl and The Night Visitors, Driving Miss Daisy, and The Drowsy Chaperone; Cinderella in Into The Woods; Miss Clairee in Steel Magnolias; Sister Amnesia in Nunsense (for which she won a Best Supporting Actress in a Musical Birdsall Award); Anna in The King and I, and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes. She thanks Gian for this opportunity and thanks David for being so supportive in all her theatrical endeavors! Thank you for coming! Saints be praised!

Sister Hubert

CHRISTINE DEAMER

Christine is thrilled for her debut with Rise Up Theatre Company, and the reprisal of her role as Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense. Christine was last seen at Theatre in the Heights as Peggy in Weekend Company. A few of Christine’s memorable roles include  Madame Thenardier in  MiseLesrable at the Woodland Opera House as well as Mrs. Bradman in Blithe Spirit. Calendar Girls as Cora at the Winter’s Theatre Company and as “Mae Peterson'' in Davis Musical Theater's production of Bye Bye Birdie. Christine has also been nominated 4 times for an Elly award and has won twice for her set design work in Disney’s My son Pinocchio and How to became a Pirate   for the Woodland Opera House. Christine has performed in over 20 productions over the past 14 years in the Greater Sacramento Area. Christine received a Bachelor's Degree from San Francisco State in Theater and studied at the Jean Shelton School of Acting in San Francisco. Christine would like to thank her family, friends and  fellow cast mates for their support and encouragement.   

Sister Mary Amnesia

Crystal Neher-Evans
Crystal has been involved in community theatre in the Sacramento area since 2014, working at multiple theaters around town. For the past five years she ahs studied acting with the very talented Jason Bortz. Some of her notesble roles include Truvy in Steel Magnolias, Kate Kellar in The Miraclw Worker, Doatsy Mae in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Elvira in Blothe Spirit, and Diana in California Suite. Prior to Nunsense she was most recently seen on the Rise Up Theatre Stage as Jenny in Exit The Body. She is very grateful to be in her 4th show with Rise Up Theatre Company, and is excited to reprise her role as Sister Amnesia!

Courtney is the Artistic Director and founder of Rise Up Theatre Company. She is thrilled to be able to bring Nunsense back and reprise her role and Sister Robert Ann, and share it here at Bridgeway Christian Church! Film and theater have been a lifelong passion of Courtney's and she is thrilled to be able to share with you a little piece of joy and brighten your day! Enjoy the show!!

Brenna Van Tassel

Brenna, Is very excited to be joining Rise Up Theatre Company in the role of Sister Leo. She has performed in many community theater and School productions. She has been in all aspects of performing arts for as long she can remember. Two of her most cherished theatrical roles include playing Liesel in The Sound of Music and, Zaneta in The Music Man. Brenna is currently studying for her Masters degree  in elementary education, at Western Governors University. She hopes you enjoy the show and that it bring a smile to your face.

TOM SEATON "Father Tom"-conductor

Tom is the music director of the Rancho Cordova River City Concert Band since 2003. He is a graduate of California State University Northridge. As a performance major, he studied clarinet with Dr. Charles Bay and performed under the batons of Dr. David Whitwell and Mr. Gary Pratt. Mr. Seaton earned his Master of Science in Arts and Letters Degree. He has had the opportunity to play under the batons of Dr. Frederick Fennell, Dr. Alfred Reed, Elliot Del Borgo, Frank Erickson, Robert W. Smith, Col. Arnald Gabriel, Dr. Peter Loel Boonshaft, Col John R. Bourgeois (former US Marine Band conductor) and other European composers such as Johan de Meij, Jan van der Roost and Australian Composer Ralph Hultgren. Additionally Mr. Seaton has been a music educator since 1990 and is currently teaching 7-12th grade music at Creative Connections Arts Academy in North Highlands, CA.

WILLIAM HEDGE 

RON WAINWRIGHT (Bass-Guitar)

 

Following a 22-year career in Canadian Military Bands, Ron emigrated to Sacramento, where he managed one of the region’s largest music stores for eight years.  Currently, he teaches music full-time, and plays different instruments in various local ensembles, from classical to jazz. Ron is Music Director of the Capital City Concert Band, and has served on the Board of Directors for the SacramentoValley Symphonic Band Association. When not playing or writing music, he is probably on DuoLingo, studying multiple languages (especially Esperanto !).

CRAIG Vreeken

 

Craig is a trombonist, arranger and recording artist (bandcamp.com). He has self produced five albums. Craig’s music contains elements of reggae, ska, jazz, jazz-rock, art-rock and experimental sounds. Craig was a founding member of the 1980s reggae-ska band Isa Wah and since then has played in various reggae, jazz, ska groups, wind ensembles and orchestras.

MARION LEWIS - Saxaphone

Marion was born in England to a father who was a musician and a mother who was a seamstress. I have followed both of them in life.  I play the clarinet, saxophone and flute and I have played many shows ranging from Gilbert & Sullivan to pantomime.

Karen Van Tassel

CHOREOGRAPHY

Karen has been singing, acting and dancing around Sacramento since she was a child. Bringing musicals to life through dance has always been her greatest joy. Some of her latest shows have been Fiddler, Sound of Music and Music Man with Stageright Productions.  She also enjoys working with childrens workshops where she can see the joy of theatre through children's eyes. Nunsense is her first show with Rise Up Theatre Company and looks forward to the opportunity to do more. Whether on stage herself or choreographing musical numbers Karen enjoys the enrichment theater can bring to all ages and all communities.

WALTER PIERSON

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR AND SET DESIGN


Walt is our true magic maker. He designs and builds the sets, as well as designs and runs the lighting for each show here at Rise Up Theatre Company.  Walts TECH accomplishments include, but are not limited to; a history as a recording engineer, several years working in the musical industry as a DJ, and event work including owning his own successful production company called “Magical Memories”. In recent years he is known for his production work on community events and productions such as The Polar Express in James Town as well as Train productions and Wine Tours. 

EILEEN BEAVER

COSTUMER

Eileen has been costuming and performing in the greater Sacramento area for 35 years.  She is the recipient of numerous Elly Nominations and Awards for her costuming. She received the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance Lifetime Achievement Aware in 2018.  She is also an accomplished actress and has been seen in many productions throughout the greater Sacramento area. Eileen is the resident costumer for Sutter Street Theatre in Folsom, she also enjoys acting on the stage when the timing is right. 

CLARE RADFORD

PROPS

This is Clare's third production wrangling props, set pieces, and keeping the cast in line for Rise Up Theatre Company. Clare has been a part of theatre arts for over 20 years, enjoying producing theatrical productions (mainly with her husband, churches and friends). Clare is a whiz with her hands, and master of details, and a valuable, member of our team, we love you Clare! 

Gian Montesini

THE ORIGINAL DIRECTOR

Gian has been involved with theatre since 1983, when he joined a theatre group by accident. Since then, he has worn many hats: lights operator, theatre owner, director, actor, pit musician, janitor, playwright, set designer, among others. Gian is very happy to be able to contribute with such a talented group of people! On with the show!

TALEN ANDERSeN

THE ORIGINAL VOCAL DIRECTOR 

Talen Andersen is a performing artist based in Northern California. He holds a B.A. in Music from William Jessup University. He teaches music and drama at Bradshaw Christian School and private music lessons at the Music Institute of Roseville. Production credits include ALFRED & THE INNKEEPER (Music Director/Orchestrator) and MY SON PINOCCHIO (Director). He would like to specifically thank his smoking hot wife, Sara, for her patience and support of his creative endeavors. Isaiah 64:8--
